Privacy Policy — ParatransitGuide

1. Who we are

The paratransitguide.com website ("ParatransitGuide", "we", "us") is a free guide to ADA paratransit in the United States, by city and state, built from official Federal Transit Administration data. It is not affiliated with the FTA, the U.S. DOT or any transit agency.

The site is operated by the ParatransitGuide team. For any question about your personal information, write to the person in charge named in section 2.

This policy explains, in plain language, what personal information we process, why, who we share it with and how to exercise your rights, in accordance with Québec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector. It applies to paratransitguide.com (paratransitguide.ca redirects to paratransitguide.com).

2. Person in charge of the protection of personal information

For any question, request or complaint about your personal information, write to:

Person in charge of the protection of personal information — ParatransitGuide
Email: contact@paratransitguide.com

3. Information we process

3.1 When you browse the site

3.2 Inactive forms

The newsletter form ("Sign up (coming soon)") and the correction form ("Report a correction") are not active yet: they send and store no information. Before they go live, this policy will be updated (tool chosen, data collected, provider, open tracking, retention).

3.3 When you write to us

If you email us (contact@paratransitguide.com), we use your address and the content of your message to reply and, where relevant, correct information on the site. These emails are received in a Microsoft 365 mailbox (see section 5). Retention: as long as needed to handle your request and follow up on it, then deleted.

4. Why we use this information

We do not sell your personal information, we do not use it for targeted advertising and we do not profile you.

5. Who we share your information with

Our providers act on our behalf, under their terms and data processing agreements, and only to provide their service:

We may also disclose information where the law requires or permits it (for example, at the request of a competent authority).

6. Disclosure outside Québec

Our providers (Cloudflare and Microsoft) operate their services outside Québec. Your information may therefore be processed or stored outside Québec and Canada, including in the United States. These providers process your information under their data protection agreements, only to provide their service to us.

7. Cookies and similar technologies

Our pages set no cookies and use no advertising or tracking cookies. Audience measurement works without cookies. Depending on security settings, Cloudflare may set cookies strictly necessary for security (bot detection); none were observed on our pages on Oct. 17, 2026. If we ever add cookies or technologies that can identify, locate or profile you, those functions will be off by default and we will inform you beforehand.

8. Retention and destruction

We keep information only as long as needed for the purposes stated, then destroy or anonymize it:

9. Security

We take reasonable security measures: encrypted connections (HTTPS), restricted access to administrative accounts, collection limited to what is strictly needed. No system is infallible; we handle any confidentiality incident as required by law, including notifying the Commission d'accès à l'information and affected individuals where the incident presents a risk of serious injury.

10. Your rights

Subject to the law, you may:

Write to the person in charge (section 2). We may ask you to confirm your identity. We reply in writing no later than 30 days after receiving your request.

11. Complaints

You may first send us a written complaint (section 2); we will handle it diligently. If you are not satisfied, you may contact the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec (https://www.cai.gouv.qc.ca). If you live elsewhere in Canada, you may also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (https://www.priv.gc.ca).

12. Minors

The site is intended for paratransit riders, their families and caregivers. It is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from a minor under 14 without the consent of the person having parental authority or the tutor. If you believe a child has sent us information, write to us and we will delete it.

13. Changes to this policy

We may change this policy. The current version is always published on this page with its update date. For significant changes, we will post a visible notice on the site.

14. Language

This policy is also available in French on request (section 2). In case of discrepancy, the French version prevails.
